====== Add, Change and Delete Categories ======

Note: Once a Category has been used to describe an item (even just one), it cannot be deleted. You may, however, make the Category inactiveand/or invisible.

===== To Add A New Level 1 Category: =====

  - From the Main menu in Liberty, click on **Setup** > **Categories** > **Category Editor**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image7.png|image7.png}} \\ The Maintain Categories dialog box will open. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image16.png|image16.png}}
  - In the [[setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:categoryeditor|Category Editor]], highlight **All Departments** and select the **Add** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image23.png|image23.png}} \\ The **Edit Category** dialog box will open. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image6.png|image6.png}}
  - Enter the name of the **Level 1 Category** item to be added in the **Cat Name** field. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image26.png|image26.png}}
  - Choose the appropriate Product Line from the **Product Line** pick list.   - Make sure the **Active and Visible** radio button is checked, then press the **OK** button at the bottom.

===== To Add A New Level 2 Category: =====

  - From the Main menu in Liberty, click on **Setup** > **Categories** > **Category Editor**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image7.png|image7.png}} \\ The Maintain Categories dialog box will open. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image16.png|image16.png}}
  - In the [[setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:categoryeditor|Category Editor]], highlight the **Level 1 Category** item that the new **Level 2 Category** item will go under then select the **Add** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image24.png|image24.png}} \\ The **Edit Category** dialog will appear. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image6.png|image6.png}}
  - Enter the name of the **Level 2 Category** item to be added in the **Cat Name** field. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image8.png|image8.png}}
  - Choose the appropriate Product Line from the **Product Line** pick list.   - Make sure the **Active and Visible** radio button is checked, then press the **OK** button at the bottom.

===== To Add A New Level 3 Category: =====

There are two methods for adding **Categories**. The first is preferred, as it provides more information and allows for **Categories** to be setup more consistently. Use the second option to add a **Level 3 Category** on the fly while entering items (not generally recommended).

  - From the Main menu in Liberty, click on **Setup** > **Categories** > **Category Editor**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image7.png|image7.png}} \\ The Maintain Categories dialog box will open. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image3_2.png|image3.png}}
  - In the [[setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:categoryeditor|Category Editor]], highlight the **Level 2 Category** item that the new **Level 3 Category** item will go under then select the **Add** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image21.png|image21.png}} \\ The **Edit Category** dialog will appear. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image6.png|image6.png}}
  - Enter the name of the **Level 3 Category** item to be added in the **Cat Name** field. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image17.png|image17.png}}
  - Choose the appropriate Product Line from the **Product Line** pick list.   - Make sure the **Active and Visible** radio button is checked, then press the **OK** button at the bottom.

===== To Add A New Level 3 Category While Entering Inventory: =====

  - While entering an item into inventory, with the **Cursor** in the **Category Field**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image4_2.png|image4.png}}
  - Press **F2** for **More Options**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image10.png|image10.png}} \\ The **Select Category** dialog will appear. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image1_2.png|image1.png}}
  - Select an existing **Level 1** and **Level 2 Category** from the menu, then click the **Add** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image11.png|image11.png}} \\ The **Edit Category** dialog box appears. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image6.png|image6.png}}
  - Enter the name of the **Level 3 Category** item to be added in the **Cat Name** field. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image20.png|image20.png}}
  - Choose the appropriate Product Line from the **Product Line** pick list.   - Make sure the **Active and Visible** radio button is checked, then press the **OK** button at the bottom. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image5.png|image5.png}}
  - Press the **OK** button to close out of the **Category Editor**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image2_2.png|image2.png}}

===== To Change A Category: =====

  - From the Main Menu, click on **Setup** > **Categories** > **Category Editor**. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image7.png|image7.png}} \\ The Maintain Categories dialog box will open. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image3_2.png|image3.png}}
  - In the Category Editor, find and highlight the **Category** item to be changed. Select the **Edit** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image14.png|image14.png}}
  - Make changes as necessary, and select the **OK** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image19.png|image19.png}}

===== To Delete a Category: =====

  - In the **Category Editor**, find and highlight the **Category** to be deleted and select the **Delete** button. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image18.png|image18.png}}
  - Click **Yes** to delete the category. \\ {{setup:requiredsetupsteps:inventorymodule:categories:addchangeanddeletecategories_image15.png|image15.png}}
