====== Make an Attribute Inactive ======

Once an Attribute has been used to describe an item it cannot be deleted. Attributes may, however, be made **Inactive**. Making an Attribute **Inactive** cause the Attribute to not appear in the Attributes Panel in the Item Entry screen.

===== To Make Attribute Inactive: =====

  - From the Main menu, click on **Setup > Categories >** **Category Editor**. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem683.png|NewItem683.png}} \\ The Maintain Category dialog box will open. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem682.png|NewItem682.png}}
  - Select the Category containing the Attribute you wish to make **Inactive**. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem681.png|NewItem681.png}}
  - Select the Attribute to be made **Inactive** in the list of Attributes and select **Edit**. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem680.png|NewItem680.png}}
  - Remove the check from the **Active** check box. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem679.png|NewItem679.png}}
  - Select the **OK** button. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem678.png|NewItem678.png}}
  - Select the **OK** button to close the Maintain Categories dialog box when done. \\ {{libertyreact:lib:newitem677.png|NewItem677.png}}
