====== Post a Sale Using a Store Credit ======

If a client is owed money and wishes to make a purchase in your store, **Store Credit** can be used as the payment type. Using store credit as the payment type reduces the amount owed to the client by the amount of the sale. A record of the transaction is stored in the client's **Transaction History**. Use the procedure below to post a sale to an account holder's account balance.

Note: You can allow a client to use a greater amount for store credit than what is actually owed (this option can be chosen when setting up POS). This is recorded in the client’s **Transaction History** and their balance will become negative

===== How To Post A Sale For A Consignor Using Store Credit =====

  - From the POS Hub select the **New Sale** button. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image6.png|image6.png}}
  - **Login** if prompted. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image10.png|image10.png}} \\ Select the customer who is making the purchase. \\
  - Select the **Customer** button. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image4.png|image4.png}}
  - Select the customer from the list, then select the **OK** button. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image8.png|image8.png}} \\ Note: If this is a new customer, select the Add Account button to create the account.   - Select your posting mode. For more information on posting modes, see [[https://help.resaleworld.com/lib5help/sellitemregular.html|Sell Items For Regular Price]], [[https://help.resaleworld.com/lib5help/sellitemdiscount.html|Sell An Item At A Percentage Discount]], and [[https://help.resaleworld.com/lib5help/changeprice.html|Changing The Selling Price Of An Item]]. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image11.png|image11.png}} \\ The posting mode you are in will be displayed in the black entry field. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image1.png|image1.png}}
  - Scan or type in your items using the **Account-Item Number** format. \\ Example: for item 19 on account 1 type in 1-19. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image7.png|image7.png}}
  - Enter the amount of **Store Credit** being used, then select the **Store Credit** button. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image9.png|image9.png}} \\ The amount will be applied to the sale. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image15.png|image15.png}} \\ If you do not have a **Customer** selected, when clicking on **Store Credit** you will \\ get this error. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image14.png|image14.png}} \\ Use additional **Payment Methods** if necessary. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image12.png|image12.png}}
  - Press on the **Finish** button to complete the sale. \\ {{pos1:pointofsaleindepth:acceptingpayments:postsaleusingstorecredit_image3.png|image3.png}}
